Luann Dummer Center for Women announces 2008-2009 grant recipients

The Luann Dummer Center for Women announces its grant recipients for 2008-2009. The advisory board reviewed three undergraduate applications, eight graduate applications and one application for a Curriculum Development Grant.

The recipient of the Undergraduate Student Research Fellowship is Amanda Sesker. Her work is titled "A Comparative Study of Irish and American College Students' Perspectives on Feminism" (Psychology, faculty sponsor is Dr. Elise Amel).

The recipients of the Graduate Student Research Fellowship are Amy Monson, "Writing the Elder Woman's Body from the Erasure of Her Desire" (English, Dr. Young-ok An); and Kathleen Wilcox-Harris, "Hello, My Name Is Mary Mackbee: A Life of Mary Mackbee" (Educational Leadership, Dr. Robert Brown).

The committee also awarded a Curriculum Development Grant to Dr. Paul Schons (Modern and Classical Languages) for his project, "German, Austrian and Swiss Women," which will further develop his women's section on the German Studies Web site.

The women's center thanks everyone who submitted proposals, along with the faculty who worked with them.
