Macalester professor to speak at biology seminar

Dr. Sarah Boyer, Department of Biology at Macalester College, will speak at the biology seminar Friday, Sept. 21.

She will speak on "From New Zealand to the Globe: Evolution and Biogeography of 'Mite Harvestmen' " at 3:15 p.m. in Room 313, O'Shaughnessy Science Hall.

Summary: "I work on the systematics and historical biogeography of an obscure group of tiny arachnids. I build evolutionary trees for the group using DNA sequence data and relate the evolutionary history of these animals to the geological history of the places where they live."

The Biology Department will host a social with snacks immediately after the seminar in the Biology lounge area outside of Room 390, Owens Science Hall. All are invited.
