'Morality and War' is topic of philosophy colloquium Thursday

Philosophy Colloquium Series will feature a talk by Dr. Kenneth Kemp of the UST Philosophy Department from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in 3M Auditorium, Room 150, Owens Science Hall. His topic will be "Morality and War."

"What does moral philosophy have to say about war?" Kemp asks.  "In the 13th century, St. Thomas Aquinas laid the foundations for a philosophical approach to the moral analysis of war. The questions he asked are as relevant today as they were when he wrote them.  This talk will offer a brief exposition of the just-war theory, with some comments about how the theory might be defended and how it can be applied today.”
