Philosophy Department Colloquium: ‘A Hindu Proof for God’s Existence’

Dr. John Kronen, Philosophy Department, will examine one of several arguments for the existence of God produced by an Indian school of philosophy. In its proof from “being an effect,” the Nyaya-Vaisesika school of philosophy tries to show that God is an efficient cause of the world, and therefore must exist.

Kronen suggests, “Though similar to many Western arguments, this argument has some unique features and may not be subject to some of the difficulties that beset Western cosmological arguments.”

The colloquium will be held from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 in Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.
