Play team handball Sunday; spectators welcome, too

The UST German Club is hosting a European handball (also known as team handball) game from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 4, in Coughlan Field House. Everyone is welcome to play or watch.

Food, drinks and German candy will be available after the game. An authentic leather ball, about the size of a youth soccer ball, will be provided.

This sport is almost unknown in the United States, but team handball is popular all over the world. Imagine taking the fast pace of basketball and the team play of soccer, put it on a court measuring 20-by-40 meters, add two goals about half the size of soccer goals, and a goal zone like the three-point circle that is off limits to everyone but the goalie, and you can imagine team handball.
