Prayer Service Planned at Noon Tuesday for Law Student Injured in Rome

A service to pray for the recovery of a University of St. Thomas School of Law student who was seriously injured in Rome will be held at noon Tuesday, July 3, in the Chapel of St. Thomas More in the School of Law building on St. Thomas’ downtown Minneapolis campus, 1000 LaSalle Ave.

All are welcome to attend the service.

Ricky DeMello, 23, of St. Louis Park, is one of 40 students from the St. Thomas and Villanova University law schools participating in a joint study-abroad program in Rome. He was injured in a fall from a window early Monday morning, July 2, at a John Cabot University residential building, where students in the St. Thomas-Villanova study-abroad program are staying. It had been incorrectly reported earlier that the accident happened at St. Thomas’ Bernardi Campus in Rome.

DeMello, who has completed his first year at St. Thomas’ School of Law, underwent surgery Monday morning.

Members of the St. Thomas community who would like support or assistance are welcome to contact Campus Ministry, (651) 962-6560, or Counseling and Psychological Services, (651) 962-6780.
