Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of a lewd conduct incident that occurred on the 1900 block of Grand Avenue.
On Monday, Dec. 8, a UST student reported she was walking home at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, when she encountered a male suspect outside of her apartment building. As she passed the suspect, he asked her about classes, then asked her to come back to him. The student went back to the suspect, who told her it was his birthday and extended his arms for a hug. The student reported she only patted the suspect on the shoulder, but he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him. He then reached and groped her buttocks. The student pushed the suspect away and quickly walked to her apartment. The suspect left the area on foot. The incident was later reported to the St. Paul Police Department.
The suspect was described as a black male, 40-50 years old, 5’ 7” or 5’8” tall, light to medium build, with slurred speech, wearing a red plaid light weight jacket and a dark color beanie.
The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of this incident.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call the St. Paul Police Department at (651) 291-1111, or Public Safety at (651) 962-5100.
