Author and columnist David Brooks will be on campus Tuesday, May 5, to meet withstudents and to give a public presentation, “The Age of Obama,” as the 2009 OpusDistinguished Speaker.

Brooks has been an op-ed columnist with The New York Times since September 2003. He was a senior editor at The Weekly Standard, a contributing editor at Newsweek and the Atlantic Monthly, and is currently a commentator on “The Newshour with JimLehrer.” He is the author of Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There and On Paradise Drive: How We Live Now (And Always Have) in the Future Tense. He is a frequent analyst on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and the “Diane Rehm Show.” His articles have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Forbes, the Washington Post, the TLS, Commentary, The Public Interest and many other periodicals.

Brooks’ presentation is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It willbe held in the Schulze Grand Atrium at the School of Law on the Minneapolis Campus. For more information, visit www.stthomas.edu/business/events.

After his public presentation, Brooks will join the Master of Business Communicationstudents and alumni at a reception in honor of that program’s 25th anniversary. The reception is by invitation only.
