The Securian Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Securian Financial Group, recently announced that it would support the University of St. Thomas and the Opus College of Business with a generous gift of $50,000. In recognition of the gift, the university will name the computer lab in McNeely Hall in honor of Securian.
“With this gift, we acknowledge the university’s long history of preparing students to contribute to the success of the organizations they join,” said Robert L. Senkler, chairman and CEO, Securian Financial Group. “Our associates are Securian’s most valuable asset, and we’ve benefited from the many St. Thomas graduates employed by our company.”
McNeely Hall is the center of the Opus College of Business activities on the St. Paul campus and is the home to the undergraduate business program. Completed in 2006, the 75,000-square-foot facility houses classrooms, a state-of-the-the-art computer lab, meeting and office space.
The Securian Foundation’s gift was made in response to the university’s Opening Doors Capital Campaign. The campaign is a $500 million multiyear fundraising effort at the University of St. Thomas. It calls upon alumni, parents of students and alumni, other friends, faculty and staff members, students, and corporations and foundations to support the mission of St. Thomas with gifts for a variety of academic and building priorities.
