See UST Crew in a regatta Saturday on the Mississippi River
From UST Crew
Come support the UST Crew at the Head of the Mississippi regatta this Saturday, Oct. 7.
The first race starts at 9:45 a.m. and the regatta ends at 1 p.m. Stop by any time. The 3-kilometer regatta can be viewed within walking distance from St. Thomas either at the Minneapolis Rowing Club or on the river flats near the University of Minnesota. For directions to the Minneapolis Rowing Club, check online.
Some UST Crew rivals will be at this event, including Macalester and the Minneapolis Rowing Club. UST Crew will head to Rockford, Ill., on Sunday for another regatta. There, the team will compete against many schools, including club and varsity sponsored programs. This is one of the few clubs in which team members are able to race against all divisions.
Any student can join crew regardless of experience or athletic capability. Also, if you fit the description of a coxswain – a shorter person who weighs approximately 130 pounds (for women) or 140 pounds (for men) – and are interested in joining UST Crew, e-mail Mariah Wescott. The coxswain steers the boat and gives commands.
