New Media Initiatives Group launches Social Media (e)News

The cross-departmental New Media Initiatives Group at St. Thomas has launched Social Media News, a periodic e-newsletter designed to offer social media news and information to St. Thomas community members working on university-affiliated social media sites.

The New Media group already has identified several social media administrators at St. Thomas, and this group will receive an email message as new issues are posted online. The first email message will be sent today. If you do not receive it, but would like to, email the New Media group and submit the following information:

  • Name
  • UST department or club
  • Social media site(s) in use and the URL(s)

Current and past issues of Social Media News will be available online.

NMIG includes representation from University Relations, Web and Media Services, Alumni and Constituent Relations, Development and Enrollment Services. It was convened to increase UST’s collective knowledge of how to effectively use new media within existing marketing tools. In addition to creating a social media registry of St. Thomas sites, NMIG has compiled a list of best practices for a variety of social media tools. These also can be found on the registry site.

To include your department’s social media sites (i.e., pages on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) in the registry, visit the Social Media registry.
