St. Thomas to Host 32nd Annual Neighborfest Aug. 1

The University of St. Thomas will host its annual community celebration, “Neighborfest,” from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1.

Guests at an earlier Neighborfest enjoyed good eats.

The free event, first held in the summer of 1981, attracts hundreds of St. Thomas neighbors, friends and their families to campus each year for music, food and fun.

The event will take place on the John P. Monahan Plaza, home of the new Murray J. Harpole Legacy Fountain that was dedicated this spring. The plaza is just outside the Anderson Student Center, located at Summit and Cretin avenues on the St. Paul campus.

In event of rain, Neighborfest will move into the Anderson Student Center.

As usual, there will be free ice cream treats, fresh fruit kabobs, popcorn and caramel corn, and lemonade.  For those who’d like to make a dinnertime visit, the grills will be fired up, with brats, hot dogs and cheddarwurst available for purchase.

Shake Down will provide the music; Blueberry and her sidekick Jericho will provide the pony rides.

For those driving to campus, free parking is available on the university’s south campus (south of Summit and west of Cretin avenues).
