STAR presents four events
STAR (St. Thomas Activities and Recreation) presents four events: a showing tomorrow of episodes from the first three seasons of the TV comedy "The Office"; a showing of "The Bourne Ultimatum," Nov. 2; a showing of the film "Pandemic: Facing AIDS," followed with a lecture by the film's director and producer, Rory Kennedy, Nov. 5; and a trip to the "The Lion King" at the Orpheum Theatre, Nov. 7.
'The Office' TV sitcom – Oct. 30
Join Jim, Pam, Dwight and the rest of "The Office" TV show gang, along with members of STAR, from 6 to 10 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Room 304, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Watch a marathon showing of episodes from the first three seasons of "The Office," one of the funniest shows on television. Free pizza and soda will be provided.
'The Bourne Ultimatum' – Nov. 2
Looking for an easy-going night on campus? STAR presents "The Bourne Ultimatum" at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the auditorium, Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts. The event is free to UST students and guests; no sign-up required. Snacks will be provided
Showing of 'Pandemic: Facing AIDS' followed with lecture by filmmaker Rory Kennedy – Nov. 5
Join STAR and the University Lectures Committee as they present filmmaker Rory Kennedy on Monday, Nov. 5. The night will begin at 6 p.m. in the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium with a showing of Kennedy's 2002 film, "Pandemic: Facing AIDS." The film tells the personal stories of men and women from five counties living with HIV and AIDS. At 8 p.m. Kennedy will give a presentation on "Making the Film, 'Pandemic: Facing AIDS.' " Kennedy has produced documentaries for HBO, A&E, The Learning Channel and several other networks. The event is free to UST students and guests. Read a New York Times review.
'The Lion King' – Nov. 7
Hakunamatata, what a wonderful phrase! Have you ever been to a Broadway show? Eager for the chance? Join STAR with a trip to the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Minneapolis for the Broadway production of "The Lion King" on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Tickets for "The Lion King" are for UST students only. The bus will leave the arches at 6:45 p.m., the show starts at 7:30 p.m., and the bus will return following the performance. Tickets will be on sale for just $20 with a UST ID, beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Box Office and Expeditions, lower level, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. No guests will be allowed.
