Student organization: Delta Sigma Pi
Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business organization on campus, has 11 new pledges this fall. The new pledges: Dedra Brey, Edmund Glasenapp, Shara Guidry, Peder Hatling, Patrick Napurski, Eric Olson, Ann Rixmann, Mike Rockwood, Laura Tonsager, Katie Wade and Andrew Wright, are required to plan several events in order to be considered for initiation on Nov. 19. The pledges meet twice weekly in addition to their required Monday night meeting.
For community service, the pledges will put on Rake and Bake. All proceeds from this event will benefit a local family that has relocated from Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina. Also, a successful business person will speak to the organization and the pledges to fulfill the professional event requirement. Possible speakers include the current CEOs from Toro Corp. and Gander Mountain.
A social event is being planned for Delta Sigma Pi members at a local venue.
In order to raise funds to cover the cost of these planned events, the pledge class has organized sober cabs for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, gone door-to-door handing out flyers, plans to sell Krispy Kremes and hot chocolate in Koch Commons and plans to work at a Minnesota Vikings game.
