College Democrats
Senate candidate (and St. Thomas alumnus and Board of Trustees member) Mike Ciresi will speak at the College Democrats meeting from noon to 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 29, in Room 454, O'Shaughnessy Educational Center. Everyone is welcome.
Communication Club
Erin Blake from Career Professionals Inc. will discuss résumés, job searching and more at the Communication Club meeting from noon to 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 29, in Room 455, O'Shaughnessy Educational Center. As always, lunch is provided. All students are welcome.
STAR events:
- Free hot chocolate and candy canes: Join in the holiday spirit with the STAR Committee over convocation hour today, Thursday, Nov. 29, in Foley Plaza, as members hand out free hot chocolate and candy canes to the sounds of holiday music. The handouts will begin at 11:45 a.m. and continue until supplies are depleted.
- STAR and the University Lectures Committee host "Survivor" star Chad Crittenden at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium. Crittenden, a participant in triathlons, was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma and underwent surgery to remove his leg just beneath his knee to stem the cancer and increase his chances for survival. He tells his story of overcoming obstacles, taking risks, giving back to your community, and discovering new opportunities to grow.
- Join STAR as it hosts a Toys for Tots dinner trip on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The bus will depart from the arches at 6 p.m. and head to the local Toys R Us where students are asked to purchase and donate a toy that they buy with their own money. For their generosity, STAR will then take them to the Olive Garden and treat them to dinner. The bus will return to the arches at approximately 9 p.m. Sign up to participate for free in the Box Office and Expeditions. Guests are welcome to ride the bus, but must purchase their own toy and dinner.
