A 40-year-old St. Paul woman has been arrested in connection with the hit-and-run traffic accident that critically injured two St. Thomas students earlier this week, St. Paul police announced Friday.
Seniors Rebekka Peterson, 22, of Farmington, and Nicholas Bergeland, 22, of Wayzata, remain hospitalized in Regions Hospital in St. Paul. A car struck them about 2:30 a.m. Sunday after they got out of a cab in the 1900 block of Grand several blocks east of campus.
The driver did not stop. Police recovered the car later Sunday in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Carroll Avenue, about a mile northeast of campus.
A prayer service for Peterson and Bergeland was held Tuesday in the Florance Chapel on the St. Paul campus. President Julie Sullivan asks that community members keep the students and their families in their prayers.
