Dr. John Abraham of the Engineering Department, along with UST students and other faculty, will lead the sixth Telos Project open discussion today, Thursday, Nov. 10. Sponsored by O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center, the semesterlong discussion series seeks to bring a renewed focus to St. Thomas’ commitment to the pursuit of truth through the integration of knowledge across disciplines.

Meetings take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the O’Shaughnessy (“leather”) Room, Room 108, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. Each week a professor from a different department will give a brief presentation on: (a) what his or her discipline is, (b) what attracts him or her to it, and (c) why the larger UST community should care.
The meetings will begin with an introduction to the professor’s discipline and area of expertise from noon to 1:15 p.m., followed by a discussion and conversation among students and faculty. All students are invited to participate in the dialogues at noon every Thursday. Cookies and juice will be provided.
Abraham’s primary focus is the education of undergraduates in mechanical engineering courses with a goal of preparing them for substantial careers in heat transfer, fluid mechanics and computational methods. Read more about Abraham’s interests and work here.
