Dr. Matthew Kim, Economics, along with students and other UST faculty, will lead the second spring semester Telos Project open discussion today, Thursday, Feb. 16. Sponsored by the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center, the semesterlong series seeks to bring a renewed focus to St. Thomas’ commitment to the pursuit of truth through the integration of knowledge across disciplines.
Meetings take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the O’Shaughnessy Room (108). Each week a professor from a different department gives a brief presentation on:
- His or her discipline.
- What attracted him or her to that field.
- Why the larger UST community should care.
The meeting will begin with a 15-minute introduction to Kim’s discipline and area of expertise, followed by a discussion and conversation among students and faculty. All students are invited to participate in the dialogue today and every Thursday. Cookies and juice will be provided.
Kim’s primary focus is in the field of microeconomics. He has a bachelor’s degree in biology and economics from Williams College, graduating cum laude. He completed his M.S. in economics and his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin.
