Who wants to be a millionaire parking lot attendant?

By The Scroll editors

Have you ever seen a millionaire in his late 70s parking cars on a subzero Saturday night?

Arnold Mikulay

Doug Hennes of University Relations ran into Arnold Mikulay, a former member of the St. Thomas Board of Trustees, doing just that more than a decade ago. When Hennes asked Mikulay why he was parking cars, he replied, "Because it's there. Because it's work. Because I like it."

Mikulay died last month at the age of 89. Read more about this remarkable man, and how much of the St. Thomas Minneapolis campus sits on his former parking lots, in today's version of The Scroll.

If you know of someone with the same kind of work ethic, send us a note and we’ll publish it as a response in The Scroll.
