TommieMedia Wins Five Awards in Society of Professional Journalists' Regional Competition

TommieMedia took home five awards in the Society of Professional Journalists Region 6 Mark of Excellence competition on Saturday, April 9.

The contest, for the 2010 calendar year, received almost 4,000 entries from journalists in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. First place regional winners will advance to the national round of judging, where winners will be announced early next month.

"Our TommieMedia journalists can be deservedly proud of these accomplishments," said Dr. Kris Bunton, lead TommieMedia adviser and chair of the Communication and Journalism Department. "These student journalists work hard to cover St. Thomas news in a timely, accurate, professional manner, and it's exciting to see their efforts gain recognition."
