Best-selling author and columnist Mitch Albom will discuss “Have a Little Faith: A True Story,” the title of his most recent book, in a talk at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 18, in the auditorium of O’Shaughnessy Educational Center on the St. Paul campus of the University of St. Thomas

Albom’s Tuesdays With Morrie, the best-selling memoir of all time, sold more than 14 million copies. The story of Albom’s time with a dying mentor was made into an Emmy Award-winning TV movie produced by Oprah Winfrey.
Albom’s inspirational books are found frequently on best-seller lists. His first novel, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, was released in 2003 and was the best-selling first novel in hardcover ever. His nine books have sold more than 28 million copies around the world.
Have a Little Faith: A True Story begins with an unusual request when Albom’s rabbi asks him to deliver his eulogy. An eight-year journey, the book is about how community and faith pull people together and our potential for a giving and meaningful life.
Albom, 51, has been a newspaper columnist for the Detroit Free Press since 1985. He is the host of two radio shows and a television commentator who appears regularly on ESPN and ABC. He has been named the No. 1 Sports Columnist in the Nation 13 times by the Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE).
In June he will receive the APSE’s 30th Red Smith Award, which is bestowed annually for lifetime achievement. Smith, of the New York Times, was the first to receive it in 1981.
An accomplished musician and songwriter, Albom played the piano in nightclubs to help pay for school. He graduated from Brandeis University with a sociology major and later earned master’s degrees in journalism and business administration from Columbia University.
Albom has founded three charities in the Detroit area. They help disadvantaged children become involved with the arts, help the homeless, and once a month bring together volunteers to tackle various projects.
