UST club hockey team splits with Illinois State
The UST club hockey team opened its season with a series split against the Illinois State Redbirds, losing 5-2 on Friday and winning 7-6 on Saturday.
The Tommies controlled the game Friday, outshooting the Redbirds 55-20; however, Illinois State was able to capitalize on its opportunities. Saturday night was a hard-fought game. Erik Fryklund netted a hat trick for UST, and Jonathon Meyers scored the game-winning goal in overtime.
UST club starts off its season 1-1-0, and hands the Illinois State its first loss of the season, putting the Redbirds at 5-1-0.
UST club hockey plays Lindenwood University at home Oct. 10 and 11.
