St. Thomas Leaves its Mark on 2011 St. Paul Winter Carnival

It has been an exciting St. Paul Winter Carnival for quite a few members of the University of St. Thomas community.

Madalyn Dosch ’08 was crowned Queen of the Snows at the St. Paul Winter Carnival coronation on Thursday. She is the first St. Paulite to be crowned in 14 years. In Saturday’s Pioneer Press, she mentions her first impression and decision to attend St. Thomas. Her focus as Queen? “I want to be a St. Paul ambassador who spreads love and kindness.” UST student Bridget Rissmann was also a candidate for the crown and earned the title Princess of the West Winds.

The 2011 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt medallion was found early Saturday morning by Mary Hermes, her daughter Mollie Hermes and Mollie’s boyfriend, Dan Murphy. Mary is the daughter of Leo Hermes ’49, aunt to Nate Boyer ’08 and Matt Boyer ’09, and sister to Joanne Boyer, who works in the UST Child Development Center. The trio found the prize in Battle Creek Regional Park after deciphering the seventh clue, winning the $10,000 cash prize. Read more about the Treasure Hunt in the Pioneer Press.
