UST Green Team hosts Green Awards April 20

The UST Green Team will host its first Green Awards at the beginning of the fourth annual Environmental Symposium at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, in Room 100, McNeely Hall.

The awards, to be given to one student and one other individual, recognize awardees' history of supporting environmental values on campus. Award winners will be given a certificate, T-shirt and a tree planted in their name through the Tree-Nation Project or an acre of saved rainforest land in their name through the Nature Conservancy.

The topic of this year's Environmental Symposium is "Sustainability and Stewardship." Speakers include:

  • Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer of UST Justice and Peace Studies, speaking on "Climate Issues and How to Make a Change"
  • Barb Kass and Mike Miles of Anathoth Community Farm in Luck, Wis., speaking on "Benefits of Complete Sustainable Living"
  • Brian Davis, UST College of Business adjunct, speaking on the "Business Aspect of Sustainable Living"
  • Dr. Steve Sandstrom of Northland College in Wisconsin, speaking on "Campus and Community Development and Sustainability."
