UST Real Estate Society wins competition

The UST Real Estate Society won this year's National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Minnesota University Challenge.

This real estate challenge pitted UST against teams of students from St. Cloud Sate University and the University of Northern Iowa. The competition site was an operating industrial property at 4041 Hiawatha Ave. S., Minneapolis. The teams had to determine the highest and best use for the site and prepare a comprehensive narrative report of their analysis as well as present their findings on Nov. 9 to a group of 80 commercial real estate professionals.

The UST Real Estate Society members who presented the findings were senior real estate studies students Mike Doyle, Grant Campbell, Jon Engel, Emily Howell, Kelcey McKean and Matthew Pike. Twenty other sophomore and junior real estate studies majors were involved in the competition as well.

This is the fourth year of the contest among the universities and the second time in three years that St. Thomas has won the challenge. In early February 2007, the students will receive the traveling NAIOP University Challenge plaque.
