UST’s Poetry Team heads to the National College Poetry Slam

From Lisa Arnold
Theater Department

PSST (Poetry Slam St. Thomas) has sent five poets to the National College Poetry Slam at Texas State University this week, April 6-8, in San Marcos, Texas.

Riley Lang, Heather Poliseno, Ryan Kopperud, Mike Arleth and Meggie Elder have been working hard over the past year to get our team to nationals. This year’s tournament is the largest competition so far. About 100 poets from 21 schools across the country will perform their work and will compete for the number-one spot.

Come to an open mic and poetry slam on Monday, April 24, in Scooter’s. The open mic starts at 7 p.m. and the poetry slam begins at 8 p.m. You’ll hear some of the work these poets performed at nationals and have time to share your work as well.

Thank you, UST spoken word community, for supporting our work. Good luck, poets!
