Welcome Week contest: Are you smarter than a 5th grader an administrator?

At the St. Paul Welcome Week picnic, which follows the interfaith “Blessing on the New School Year” in the lower quad tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 11, students can match wits with administrators during our own UST version of the TV game show: “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader an Administrator?”

To be a contestant, students will signup at the beginning of the picnic (about 12:15 p.m. in the upper quad following the prayer service).  Contestants will be drawn at random and Dr. Aaron Macke will host the show during the picnic.  The game show will be videotaped and shown later on Tommie TV and the Welcome Week Web site.

Contestants will answer questions about St. Thomas “factoids” at three levels of difficulty. Two "lifelines" may be used: the audience, or one of three administrators seated on the stage may be selected to help with the questions. Fun prizes, including Box Office tickets and $25 and $50 Book Store certificates, will be awarded to students for correct answers at each progressive level.

After each correct answer contestants have a choice of taking their prize and leaving the game or moving to the next level. After an incorrect answer, all prizes will be lost and the contestant leaves the game.

If you want to "crib" for the contest, you can review the following items!

  1. UST Quick Facts
  2. Office for Mission Home Page
  3. New Student Welcome Booklet

Come and join us for the picnic and test your knowledge of Tommie facts and trivia against St. Thomas administrators for fun and prizes!
