Wellness House holiday party is tomorrow, dodge ball tourney is Saturday

From the Wellness Center

With classes finishing and finals starting, the Wellness House holiday party will be the perfect time to relax. Head over to the Wellness House to get in the holiday spirit with some holiday music, classic movies (most likely the movie "Elf," starring Will Ferrell), cider, hot chocolate, eggnog and lots more. We'll even have picture frames to paint and give out as gifts!

The party will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, in the Wellness House, 2080 Grand Ave. Come sculpt, frost, decorate and eat holiday cookies with a beverage and enjoy some festive music.

Do skate at Wells Fargo Winter Skate Rink in St. Paul until Jan. 17

The Wellness Center introduces a new physical activity for the month of December: Do skate. Use the Wells Fargo Winter Skate Rink in downtown St. Paul. The rink is located in Landmark Plaza on Fifth and Market streets. The cost is free. Skate rental is $2 (show your Wells Fargo credit card or check card and have the fee waived). Skating is open until Jan. 17, depending on the weather.

The rink's hours of operation are:

  • 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday
  • 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday
  • 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

The "Do" campaign encourages you to groove your body for 10 minutes, three times a day. By exercising, you can improve your overall health and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other illnesses. Physical inactivity and diet combined are the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States. Approximately 60 percent of adult Minnesotans are overweight, 17 percent are obese. Achieving the recommended amount of physical activity is as simple as being moderately active.

For more information, call (651) 291-5608, or visit St. Paul 's Capital City Partnership Web site.
