Campus Ministry extends warm welcome, support to Muslim students, staff and faculty
From Campus Ministry
The Office of Campus Ministry seeks to support and encourage all students, staff, and faculty in their respective spiritual and faith journeys. For many members of our community, our religious traditions commemorate and celebrate sacred seasons and festivals. Often those seasons are holy times and are marked by various religious practices.
As such, Campus Ministry would like to extend a warm welcome and support to the many Muslim students, staff and faculty as Ramadan commences. Mindful of the various customs and practices that Muslims participate in, we would like to call to attention some resources that are available to the members of our community who share in the Islamic faith.
First of all, all are welcome to make use of the following prayer spaces during this time: the Murray-Herrick Meditation Room (MHC 151A) on the Saint Paul main campus, and the Meditation room located on the second level of the Minneapolis Campus Law School building; furthermore, the Campus Ministry’s house of hospitality has a meditation room that is available for prayer.
Secondly, as many Muslims fast during Ramadan, students will be able to request sack meals. Those interested in taking advantage of this resource may visit the Food Service Web site; furthermore, some Iftar meals will be offered on Campus during Ramadan. Advertisement of those events will take place in the Bulletin as well.
For assistance with any of these resources, or if there may be any questions, please contact Don Beyers, (651) 962-6562, at the Campus Ministry Office.
