Make Sunday a Tommy Valentine’s Day with the purchase of an Opening Kitchen Doors cookbook – and make your sweetheart a delicious treat.
Cookbooks can be purchased at the St. Paul or Minneapolis campus Bookstore, and also from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, in the Grill.
The cookbook includes more than 300 recipes submitted by staff, faculty, students, alumni and friends of the University of St. Thomas. Proceeds from cookbook sales benefit the UST Nonexempt Staff Council Scholarship Fund.
Below is a sample of one of the many delicious recipes found in the cookbook.
Caramel Rice Krispie Bars

1 package caramels

1 stick margarine

1 tablespoon butter

8 cups Rice Krispies

1 can Eagle Brand milk
-
2 (10 oz.) bags miniature marshmallows
Melt caramels, butter and Eagle Brand milk together. Then melt the packages of marshmallows and margarine together and add the Rice Krispies. Butter a 9-by-12-inch pan and press half of the Rice Krispies mixture in the bottom of the pan. Add caramel mixture and then add the other half of Rice Krispies on top. Refrigerate and then cut into bars.
