Applications Now Being Accepted for Fred Lauerman Scholarship

The Fred Lauerman Scholarship at St. Thomas is now open for applications from students who are in recovery from alcohol or other drugs.

To receive the scholarship, St. Thomas students must be in an active program or recovery. Recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship per academic year. Students may reapply for the scholarship each year but the total amount awarded each year will vary based on the size of the fund. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis during each school year, with priority considerations given to applications received by Oct. 15.

To be eligible for the Lauerman Scholarship, the recipient must:

  1. Currently be in recovery from alcohol and/or other drugs; and
  2. Actively attend AA/NA meetings; and
  3. Be currently enrolled at St. Thomas

The scholarship was established by Thomas Dolan ’51 and some of his fellow classmates in honor of Fred Lauerman, another Class of 1951 classmate, who apparently struggled with several addictions throughout his life. Dolan hoped to assist students at St. Thomas who were recovering from alcoholic or chemical addictions.
