The St. Thomas Department of Art History will open the exhibition “The Horizon Line: Continuity and Change” today, Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center lobby gallery. An artist reception will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
The artists in this exhibition use lines, the most basic of the design elements, to interpret transition and change. An example of ever-changing lines can be found by gazing at the horizon – it appears the line is straight but it is easily altered. The artists are striving towards their own "horizon line,” the ever-changing expression of the most basic of all ideas.
The exhibit will feature the work of Megan Huskey, Gretachew Irko, Eric Johnson, Eric Menzhuber, Sheila Moar and Jodi Reeb-Myers.
The exhibition is free, open to the public and handicap accessible. For more information, call Sue Focke, (651) 962-5560, or visit the Department of Art History.
