The Luann Dummer Center for Women Book Club invites the campus community to participate in the center’s monthly book discussion on Wednesday, March 30. The discussion, featuring The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the center, Room 103, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center.
This first novel by Stockett, a southern writer, examines race relations in Jackson, Miss., in the early 1960s through the stories of three women. One is a white woman returning from college while two are African-American maids. The book has generated much discussion both positive and negative, and a similar range of reactions may occur on March 30.
Bring lunch and a beverage and join the discussion, even if you have not read or completed the book; everyone is welcome.
