Fast
Catholics over 14 years old are asked to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent. In addition, Catholics 18 to 59 also are required to fast (eat only one full meal) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On these days, smaller quantities of food may be taken at two other meals, but should not equal a full meal together. No food should be consumed at any other time on those days.

Give alms
Service opportunity: Join the "Bread Brigade," volunteers who do food collections for the Little Sisters of the Poor, at 9 a.m. Saturdays at Common Ground, 2154 Summit Ave. Breakfast for volunteers follows at 10 a.m. For more information, call Marya, (651) 699-6801.
