Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas renovations begin Jan. 7
As you are aware, the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas will be closed for renovations from Jan. 7 through Feb. 22, 2008.
Plans are to add a suspended crucifix over the altar and to provide a new altar, lectern, and a bronze screen and "portal." Included will be a new sound system. The sanctuary also will be handicapped-accessible.
While the altar and other sanctuary furnishings will be of bronze and substantial, they also will be movable with special equipment to provide space for occasional sacred arts events.
In a later phase, scheduled to begin in 2009, air conditioning will be added and water damage to the ceiling and basement of the chapel will be corrected.
