Class presents poster session in honor of Rosa Parks

Students of Dr. Anne Klejment’s HIST 116, African American History in Global Perspective, will display today posters related to civil rights issues and people in honor of Rosa Parks.

Rosa Parks

The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center lobby.

On Dec. 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Ala., Parks refused to obey a bus driver's order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger. Her action sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

Parks's act of defiance became an important symbol of the modern Civil Rights Movement and Parks became an international icon of resistance to racial segregation

All are welcome to view posters and talk with students about their research.
