Eat Healthy, Stay Fit, Feel Confident Week begins today

The Wellness Center is sponsoring “Eat Healthy, Stay Fit, Feel Confident Week,” a series of nutrition, fitness and other health-related informational events to help members of the UST community improve their lifestyles. The program starts today, Monday, Feb. 22, with daily events through Thursday, Feb. 25.

The schedule:

  • Nutrition for Everyday Athletes – Monday, Feb. 22
Sports nutritionist Carrie Peterson, team dietitian for the Twins, Wild, Lynx and Timberwolves, will speak with students, staff and faculty from noon to 1 p.m. in O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium. E-mail the Wellness Center if you are interested in attending this talk; lunch with Peterson will be provided to the first 30 students who respond.
  • Healthy Eating Table – Tuesday, Feb. 23
Wellness Center staff will be available during the convo hour (11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) outside of the north campus cafeteria to inform students about healthy food choices and snacks and to provide information on good nutrition.
  • “America the Beautiful” movie showing – Wednesday, Feb. 24
“America the Beautiful” will be shown from 7 to 9 p.m. Grab a friend and head down to O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium. There’s no need to bring treats; healthy snacks and drinks will be provided.
  • Recycle your unhealthy magazines – Thursday, Feb. 25
The Wellness Center will promote healthy living by hosting a “throw your unhealthy magazines away” event. Staff will be available during convo hour (11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) in the Koch Commons foyer to dispose of your unhealthy magazines. (Those with  inaccurate information.) When you turn in these publications, you will receive correct health facts and be rewarded.
  • Quote campaign
What is your favorite part of you? The Wellness Center wants to know. E-mail the center and include a quote and/or a picture of what you like about yourself and tell why you are proud to be you. Feel confident in your own skin. A banner of confidence will be made from these contributions.
