First Faculty Forum to look at 'Financial State of the University'

The first Faculty Forum of the 2008-09 academic year will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the 3M Auditorium, Room 150, Owens Science Hall. It will be telecast to the Minneapolis Campus in 252 Terrence Murphy Hall.

The general topic of the forum is “The Financial State of the University.” The main focus will be on the potential impact of the turmoil in the financial market on areas of the university as unit budgets, hiring of faculty and support staff, salary increases, and benefits such as health care.

The session will begin with a presentation by Mark Vangsgard, vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer. He will be joined by Dr. Susan Huber, interim executive vice president and chief academic officer, and Edna Comedy, associate vice president, Human Resources, for discussion and questions.

Forum participants may wish to raise other topics concerning the “financial state of the university” as well.
