St. Thomas President Julie Sullivan will sponsor a monthly series of brown bag luncheons for faculty and staff beginning next week to discuss important issues at the university.
The first luncheon will be at noon Monday, Sept. 9, in north Woulfe Alumni Hall of the Anderson Student Center. Sullivan and Dr. Michael Cogan, associate vice president for records and institutional effectiveness, will discuss results from the planning and climate surveys conducted earlier this year. Bring your own lunch; beverages and cookies will be provided, and there is no need to RSVP.
“I want to hear from as many faculty and staff as possible,” Sullivan said. “The luncheons will be good venues to provide information on issues and engage in conversation as we begin to lay the groundwork for our strategic planning efforts.”
Sullivan also encouraged people to write to her with ideas about topics for future luncheons.
Mark your calendars for these additional luncheons:
- Oct. 7: “MOOCs, UST and You,” 201 and 202 Opus Hall, Minneapolis campus. The discussion will center on the growth of Massively Open Online Courses and how active St. Thomas should become in developing online courses. Dr. Sam Levy, vice president for Information Resources and Technology, will be the host. Dr. Mary Reichardt, director of online learning, and Jennifer Haas, director of client services in Information Resources and Technology, will give presentations.
- Nov. 4: “University and Archdiocesan Relationship,” Woulfe Alumni Hall. The discussion will focus on the working relationship between St. Thomas and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, including how we work together on issues that directly relate to our Catholic identity. Sullivan and Father John Malone, vice president for mission, will lead the discussion.
