Sociology and Criminal Justice Majors, Minors: Applications Accepted for Gessner Memorial Scholarship

Applications are being accepted for the John C. Gessner Memorial Scholarship. Sociology and criminal justice majors and minors are eligible to apply. Scholarship amounts will be no less than $1,000.

Applicants must submit an application form and a one-page essay. Instructions and eligibility requirements are available on the Sociology and Criminal Justice Web page.

Application forms and essays must be received in hard copy form to Dr. Peter Parilla by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in Room 441, O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. Late or electronic applications will not be accepted.

John Gessner was a member of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice from 1985 to 1991. He died while serving as department chair. His family set up the scholarship, which is awarded each spring.
