Discussion on 'Global Warming: Make a Difference' is Sept. 28

Engineers for a Sustainable World and the Sierra Club will host a presentation by U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum (D.-Minn.), Dr. John Abraham, UST engineering faculty, and Margret Levin, Sierra Club, on Monday, Sept. 28.

The event, “Global Warming: Make a Difference,” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in 3M Auditorium, Room 150, Owens Science Hall. This presentation is free and open to everyone. Food will be provided at 5:30 p.m. outside 3M Auditorium.

Abraham will speak from 6:10 to 7 p.m. on the science most people do not know about global warming. McCollum will speak from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on congressional work on the environment and how to influence the decisions made. Levin will speak on upcoming environmental issues in Minnesota’s legislation.

McCollum is serving her fifth term in the U.S. Congress, representing Minnesota’s Fourth District. She promotes the use of alternative fuel technology, and wants to strengthen the emission controls on all gasoline or diesel-powered engines, which includes all cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles. She also supports controls for the efficient transmission and distribution of electricity for commercial and private use.
