Great Books Reading Group to discuss Roshomon

You're invited to join St. Thomas' Great Books Reading Group, which reads a book and meets to discuss it each month.

The group will discuss Roshomon by Fay and Michael Kanin from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, in Room 388, Owens Science Hall.

Roshomon is a play based on stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. The same stories are the basis of a famous Japanese film directed by Akira Kurosawa.

Selections for the next few months are:

  • Feb. 22: How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Thomas E. Wood
  • March 15: Rothschild's Fiddle by Anton Chekhov
  • April 19: Into Africa by Martin Dugard

All books are available in the university's St. Paul campus Bookstore. Look for the Great Books poster near the customer service desk.

Refreshments are served and everyone's invited. Bring a friend!
