Green Team leads Mississippi River bank cleanup Saturday

St. Thomas Green Team invites the UST community to help clean up of the east bank of the Mississippi River.

The cleanup will take place – rain, snow or shine – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. All ages are invited to meet at the World War I monument at the intersection of Summit Avenue and East Mississippi River Boulevard.

Bring gloves, rakes, good shoes and enthusiasm. Bags and gloves will be provided for participants who need them, along with coffee and food treats.

The University of St. Thomas, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, takes responsibility for cleaning the east river bank from the Marshall-Lake Street Bridge to the Ford Parkway Bridge.

Join the team for an intentional act of kindness, a community service project or just a chance to enjoy the beauty of the river and being outdoors.

Questions? E-mail Green Team president Joe Dietel, or Abby Gaul.

The cleanup is sponsored by the UST Green Team, Physical Plant, Recycling Team and the Minnesota DNR Adopt-a-River Program.
