The St. Thomas community is invited to join the university's Green Team with its annual spring cleanup of the east bank of the Mississippi River.
The cleanup will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24. The University of St. Thomas, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, takes responsibility for cleaning the east river bank from the Marshall-Lake Street Bridge down to the Ford Parkway Bridge.
Whether your inspiration is to celebrate Earth Week, enjoy a family outing, perform an intentional act of kindness or a community service project, or for just the enjoyment of the beauty of being outdoors, all ages are invited to participate; meet at the World War I monument at the intersection of Summit Avenue and East Mississippi River Boulevard, rain or shine.
Bring gloves, rakes, good shoes and enthusiasm. Bags, gloves, coffee and perhaps some food treats will be provided for participants; in addition, clubs can log volunteer hours. Registers will be kept as needed.
Questions about the event may be addressed to Green Team co-chairs Laura Hart or Becca Jabour.
The event is sponsored by UST's Green Team, Physical Plant and Recycling Team, and the Minnesota DNR.
