Editor's note: Bulletin Today was asked to publish this note as a thank you to the grounds crew that has worked to clear the campus of snow from last weekend's storm:
Our intrepid grounds crew has done it again! Groundskeepers John Kuechenmeister, Jeff Martens, Mike Rath, Dave Schlosser and Roger Weinbrenner came in at 2 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of this week, putting in very long days!
Despite getting stuck, equipment breakdown and oftentimes working in near whiteout conditions, they pulled off the nearly impossible feat of clearing our campus. When buses stopped running, mail delivery was suspended, and the airport was shut down, our guys kept going. That’s fortitude!
Special thanks are due to Jeff Martens for keeping the equipment running. Not to be forgotten, student workers Dan, Matt, Pete, Ryan and Sam (sorry guys, I don’t know your last names) went above and beyond the call of duty!
So far this season, our grounds crew has had to deal with three storms. And it’s not even winter yet!
