Herb Tousley, a Twin Cities real estate executive with extensive experience in the field of commercial real estate, is the new director of the Master of Science in Real Estate Program and the Shenehon Center for Real Estate in the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas.

Tousley has been teaching graduate and undergraduate real estate courses as an adjunct member of the Opus College of Business faculty since 2003. He also taught executive-education courses for the university's Center for Business Excellence.
He holds the CCIM designation (Certified Commercial Investment Member Institute) and is a member of the Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics. He received a bachelor of science in business at Colorado State University in 1974 and a master of business administration from St. Thomas in 2002.
Tousley's real estate experience includes work in multifamily, affordable housing, office, mixed-use and retail properties; he has particular expertise in the areas of investments, financing, acquisition and operations.
Tousley comes to St. Thomas from Coldwell Banker Commercial Griffin Companies, where as senior vice president since 2007 he was responsible for the acquisition and asset management of the company's portfolio of commercial properties.
From 2002 to 2007 he was vice president of Omni Investment Properties, a St. Paul-based commercial real estate investment company. Earlier, he had been a vice president at Hennessey Financial, a St. Paul commercial real estate lender.
St. Thomas offers a bachelor of science in real estate studies, a master of science degree in real estate, and professional designation programs developed by the Shenehon Center and available through the university's Center for Business Excellence. The university also offers a real-estate track in its full-time and evening M.B.A. programs.
St. Thomas established a Center for Real Estate Education in 1993. Eight years later it was renamed the Shenehon Center for Real Estate to recognize support from the Minneapolis-based Shenehon Co., a real estate appraisal, consulting and business-valuation firm.
Dr. Thomas Musil, who had been the center's director, is now teaching full-time on the Opus College of Business faculty.
