Library today: Spring cleaning? Donate books to library book sale

If you have books you used to love but no longer wish to keep, consider donating them to the library book sale held each year during National Library Week (April 12-15).

Bring your donations to the “treasure box” at the circulation desk in the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center by Thursday, April 8. Shoppers favor literary works, novels, poetry, nonfiction, biographies, books on travel, history and political science, cookbooks, children’s books, etc.

Tax donation forms are available on request from staff at the circulation desk.

Database trial – Naxos Music Library

Available via the UST Libraries database trials Web page, Naxos Music Library offers more than 550,000 tracks of classical, jazz, world, folk and Chinese music. It includes the complete BIS, Chandos, Hänssler, Hungaroton, Marco Polo, Naxos and Ondine labels, and selected titles of other leading independent labels.

Through the online search engine, users select music by composer, artist, period, year of composition, instrument or genre. K-12 resources include hundreds of curriculum suggestions based on MENC educational standards and an interactive junior section. Collegiate students will find composer biographies, glossary of musical terms, work analyses, CD liner notes and many other useful text resources. Playlists can be created by students and faculty for private or classroom use.

Access to the Naxos Music Library is available both on and off campus, and multiple users can listen to the same tracks. The trial ends on Friday, April 30.
