Lunch at Luann’s Book Club to discuss The Golden Apples

The Lunch at Luann’s Book Club will discuss The Golden Apples, by Eudora Welty, on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The group will meet from  noon to 1 p.m. in the Luann Dummer Center for Women, Room 103, O'Shaughnessy Educational Center. Bring lunch; the event is free and open to all. Everyone is  invited to join in the discussion of The Golden Apples even if they have not started or finished reading it.

Welty is on home ground in the state of Mississippi in this collection of seven stories. She portrays the MacLains, the Starks, the Moodys and other families of the fictitious town of Morgana.

“I doubt that a better book about ‘the South’ – one that more completely gets the feel of the particular texture of Southern life and its special tone and pattern – has ever been written” (New Yorker). (Review from Powell’s bookstore).

Lunch at Luann's is held weekly on Wednesdays. Book club discussions are held once each month. For more information about Lunch at Luann’s or the book club, e-mail Pat Alexander.
