‘From Concept to Commerce’ is Topic of Master’s Pub Speaker on Sept. 24

Christine Plantan, founder and creative director of russell+hazel, will speak at the next event in the Master’s Pub Business Conversations series. Her topic is “From Concept to Commerce: Delivering Brands and Consumer Products to the Marketplace.”

Opus College of Business graduate business students and alumni are invited to this session from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in Room 201, Opus Hall, Minneapolis campus. Light food and beverages will be available.

Since its inception in 2002, Plantan has directed the world of russell+hazel, a developer of products for the office, classroom and home, positioning the brand at the intersection of color, function and light-heartedness. Her philosophy is that good design is not over-design or design for design’s sake, rather pleasing design with loads of functionality and a complete dedication to quality. Launched to the public in 2003, the small collection of office and school tools she created has grown to include journals, note cards and totes.

With Nike, U2, Apple and Porsche, russell+hazel has become a Love Mark brand, the prestigious award by Saatchi & Saatchi president Kevin Roberts. The Trend Central Intelligence Group labeled russell+hazel as “an up-and-coming company and brand to watch.”
