MPR’s Michael Barone will host a live broadcast of Bach’s keyboard and chamber music at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 19, from St. Mary’s Chapel at the St. Paul Seminary. The program, “Before Bach’s Birthday Bash,” will feature solo and ensemble music played by representatives of the Bach Society of Minnesota, the Lyra Baroque Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, along with seminary music director David Jenkins and other Twin Cities organists.

This program will be broadcast live on the statewide network of Classical Minnesota Public Radio, KSJN 99.5 in the Twin Cities. The concert is part of a sequence of five free hourlong concerts that day of music by Johann Sebastian Bach and that of his foremost late-romantic disciple, Max Reger.

The second installment of the series will take place at the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas at 10:30 a.m., with performance on the piano and the Gabriel Kney pipe organ. Afternoon concerts will take place at the Cathedral of St. Paul, Unity Unitarian Church and House of Hope Presbyterian Church. The public is invited to all the concerts free of charge.

The concerts are presented in collaboration with the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the Bach Society of Minnesota. For more information, visit www.tcago.org.
